Quick & Easy Cards Printed on Store Bought Cards

Often times I need a quick card for a simple thank you (birthdays too), but I don't have a lot of time. So this project was the perfect solution.

 

I purchased a value pack of notecards and matching envelopes from my local Hobby Lobby. I've seen similar card sets at other craft stores. These that I'm using for this project are 4 x 5.5" and you get 50 cards/envelopes for $6.99 and the day I purchased them they were 50% off...woot, woot!!

I couldn't have completed this project without the help of my my PIXMA MG7720 Wireless Photo All-in-One Printer. It was so easy to print these cards out once I got it set up that I couldn't stop. In fact I put together a few sets as "Birthday Gifts" for some of my friends.

 

The trick to this project is to define your project dimensions in your PRINTER SETUP on your computer. On my Mac I simply created a new "user defined" option and called it "CARD". You'll notice that the "Paper Size" is 5.5in width x 8in height. I didn't mess with the margins at all.

 

I put the cards in my lower printer tray that normally has my 8.5x11" paper in it. Simply move the size and top brace to fit the cards and put back in the printer. 

 

The last key step is when you go to print it, make sure when your printer window pops up that you change the PAPER SIZE. Remember, I called my custom settings "CARD" so I select that and hit PRINT.

What I love about these cards is I can print as few or as many as I'd like. If you'd like to glam them up a bit, you can add glitter to the design. I thought the center of the flowers would look adorable with a little glitter or stickles to finish off the card with a little extra LOVE.
